Vida Cripps

Vida Cripps is a San Diego native transplanted into the woods of Western Massachusetts. She is a multi-faceted visual and performance artist with a muggle career in higher education.

As a self-taught, rogue taxidermist, Vida's work represents the delicate balance between life and death through visual contrast, elegant textures, and by incorporating Shinto ritual into the process. Much of her physical performance is shaped by dance roots in Philippine Folk and lyrical jazz while training at the Body Arts Center Dance Company of Chula Vista, CA. Her refined skills in the craft of costume design, mask making, and prop building are shown both on and off the stage.

For the 2014-15 academic year, Vida co-owned and directed Spectrum School of Fine Art in Asheville, NC. With her combined skills of business administration and art education, the program successfully ignited the creative spirits of its students.

Vida is currently tours the U.S. as a member of the theatrical psychedelic punk band Bella's Bartok as their principle puppeteer.
